Pacify my energy

According to Ayurvedic body types or internal energies, I am a Pitta dosha. A pitta characteristic is generally medium build, round eyes, prone to oily skin, mainly the face and hair, inflammed skin when out of balance with a sharp penetrating gaze and mind.

In order to pacify my dosha, feels like a sensitive man who cannot handle the deep sensitive stuff 😇 I try to incorporate a body, mind technique.  I am more mindful of my food choices, instead of eating out, I choose mostly  homemade meals. I try to avoid hot, pungent, spicy and sour taste, in addition to high content of cholesterol sweet dishes.

My only weakness in the food category is chocolate, well chocolate should be considered healthy, it is derived from the cacao plant.  My weakness of choice, 85 to 90% dark chocolate.

My go to comfort meal that is super easy to prepare and light on the digestion is vegetable kitchari.  According to Ayurvedic principles , this grain and bean combination is ideal for cleansing the colon and weight loss, given everything in moderation.

My grandmother’s way of preparing the kitchari was simple, white rice, yellow split peas, potatoes cooked in coconut milk and served with a runny consistency, I have upgraded this version to basmati rice with toor dhal, coconut milk and a few spices to warm the pallet.  I still go for the super moist or mostly runny consistency because according to Ayurvedic principles, our food it is supposed to be moist, fatty, nutritious and full of flavor.

In addition to feeding the body in a more mindful way, I like to incorporate some sort of movement in my body, whether I am in the mood for yoga or the gym, I also meditate, listen to music and read for my mental well being. If this is what pacifies the doshas while simultaneously nurturing my overall body, mind, soul connection then so be it.
